Synthetic biology applies engineering principles to design, construct, and reprogram biological parts, genetic circuits, and cellular systems. By combining molecular biology with quantitative modeling, it enables the creation of novel biological functions for medicine, sustainable biomanufacturing, and environmental sensing.
In this program, students navigate the complete Design-Build-Test-Learn (DBTL) cycle using modular cloning techniques, genetic circuit modeling, and bio-characterization. Through hands-on experimentation and quantitative analysis, participants build practical expertise in synthetic gene regulation, metabolic engineering, and translational biotechnology R&D.
